Core Privacy Principle: FaceAge is a local, offline-first application. Age estimation is performed entirely on your device using local AI models. No photos are uploaded to external servers unless you explicitly choose to share results.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Device and Identifiers

• Advertising Identifier (GAID): Collected by advertising partners for ad delivery and frequency capping. This identifier is managed by your device and can be reset in your device settings.
• Anonymous App Instance ID: A randomly generated identifier used for analytics and crash reporting. This is not linked to your personal identity.
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, screen resolution, and language settings for compatibility and analytics purposes.

1.2 Photos and Camera Access

• Photos: When you take a photo or select from gallery, the image is processed locally on your device. Photos are not uploaded to any server unless you explicitly share the result.
• Processing: All AI age estimation is performed on-device using TensorFlow Lite models stored in the app.
• Storage: Photos are temporarily stored in app cache for processing and are automatically deleted when no longer needed.

1.3 Usage and Diagnostic Data

• App Usage: Actions taken within the app (e.g., photo taken, age prediction completed, style advice requested).
• Performance Data: App startup time, screen load time, and crash reports for improving app stability.
• Ad Interactions: Ad impressions, clicks, and video completion for ad optimization.

2. Permissions Required

The app requests the following permissions:

• Camera: Required to take photos for age estimation. You can deny this permission and use gallery instead.
• Photos/Media/Files (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to select photos from your gallery using the system photo picker.
• Internet: Required for displaying advertisements and sending anonymous analytics data.
• Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Required to check network connectivity for ads.

All permissions are requested only when needed (runtime permissions) and can be denied. Core age estimation functionality works offline without internet permission.

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Core Functionality

• Age Estimation: Photos are processed locally on your device to estimate age. No photos are sent to servers.
• Style Suggestions: Gender detection and style advice are generated locally using on-device AI models.
• Sharing: When you choose to share, a composite image is created locally and shared via your device's share sheet.

3.2 Advertising

• Ad Delivery: Your GAID and basic device information are shared with advertising partners to deliver relevant ads.
• Frequency Capping: Ad interaction data is used to prevent showing the same ad too frequently.
• Personalization: Based on your consent (GDPR), ads may be personalized or non-personalized.

3.3 Analytics and Improvement

• Anonymous Analytics: Usage data is collected to understand how users interact with the app.
• Crash Reporting: Diagnostic data is collected to identify and fix bugs.
• Performance Monitoring: App performance metrics are collected to optimize user experience.

4. Data Processing and Association

4.1 Local Processing

The following data is processed locally on your device and never uploaded:

• Photos taken or selected
• Face detection and age estimation results
• Gender classification results
• Style advice generation

4.2 Data Uploaded

The following data may be sent to third-party services:

4.3 Personal Identity Association

• Not Linked to Identity: Analytics data, crash reports, and performance data are collected anonymously and not linked to your personal identity.
• Advertising ID: GAID is a pseudonymous identifier that can be reset by you at any time in device settings.
• No Account Required: The app does not require login or account creation. No personal information is collected.

4.4 Cross-App Tracking

GAID may be used by advertising partners for cross-app advertising. You can opt out by:

6.3 Permission Management

You can manage app permissions at any time:

• Revoking camera or storage permissions will disable photo-related features but the app will continue to function.

7. Data Sharing

7.1 Who We Share Data With

• Advertising Partners: GAID and device information for ad delivery.
• Analytics Providers: Anonymous usage data for app improvement.
• No Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

7.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose data if required by law, legal process, or governmental request.

8. Data Retention

• Photos: Temporarily stored in app cache during processing. Automatically deleted when you exit the app or clear cache.
• Analytics Data: Retained for up to 14 months by Firebase Analytics (Google's default).
• Crash Reports: Retained for up to 90 days by Firebase Crashlytics.
• Ad Data: Retention periods are determined by individual advertising partners (typically 90 days to 2 years).

You can request deletion of your data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.

9. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your data:

• Local Processing: All AI processing happens on your device. Photos never leave your device unless you share them.
• Encryption: Data transmitted to analytics and advertising partners is encrypted using HTTPS.
• Sandboxing: App data is stored in Android's app-specific storage, isolated from other apps.
• Minimal Permissions: We only request permissions necessary for core functionality.
• No Cloud Storage: We do not store any user photos or results on external servers.
